2nd ACM Student Conference 2016

2nd ACM Student Conference 2016

ACM's 3rd Midwifery Student Conference will be held in Adelaide on 30 October 2017.

The title of the conference is ‘Calling all Midwifery Students: The truth is out there!’.

As the next generation of midwives we know that evidence based care provides the best outcomes for women. However, practices happening out in the big wide world aren’t always supported by up to date evidence.

This conference will challenge and engage you with ways to translate evidence into practice.

Midwives, researchers and fellow student midwives will be presenting to provide current evidence and experiences to support your studies in the midwifery field.

The themes for the student conference are:

Protecting the space
Understanding Indigenous knowledge and birthing practices
Spiritual aspects of birth
Other ways of knowing birth (embodied or experiential knowledge; historical accounts; artistic representation)
De-medicalisation of birth
Advocating for women as a student midwife
How students can influence the birth space

Out there

  • Clinical practice and techniques (including collaborative models)
  • Innovative models of care
  • Translating evidence into every-day practice

Extending boundaries
Nurturing the next generation – Relationship building, mentoring, peer to peer support, self care
Leadership and advocacy in midwifery studies (local and global)
Midwifery philosophy and theory advancement
